#1 Reason you Quit

#1 Reason you Quit

Image
Having been in the fitness biz now 15+ years
Having completed north of 30,000 training sessions
Having had probably 10x as many conversations
It comes down to this
People quit on themselves because of lack of progress
Whether they are working on their own, with a DVD, an app, or with me.
You don’t have a problem with progress
The #1 reason you QUIT is that you don’t know how to quantify actual progress.
What I am here to ask is,
“What is progress?”
You see nearly everyone wants tangible numbers or images to deem their efforts a success.
I get it
Who doesn’t want an inanimate object to show your work has been worthy
(yes heavy sarcasm)
Hell we are only a few years away from robots telling us that we are good enough, right?
(more sarcasm, don’t like it, stop reading now)
Think about that
You being in a good mood for the day
Making proper decisions with your food that day
Your attitude towards others
Whether you will workout extra hard or skip the gym
Hinges on 3 seconds of being naked standing on an electronic device in your bathroom.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
READ THAT AGAIN
AND THEN…
STOP THE INSANITY!! GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY!!!!!!
Your scale doesn’t measure the fact that you haven’t missed a workout in a month
You can now touch your toes
You aren’t tired all day long
You keep up with your kids
You work full time
Your clothes are fitting better
You have a sex drive or better one
You sleep better
You now lift weights
You complete workouts without feeling nauseous
You surround yourself with positive people that make you feel good
But you don’t care about that because Mary Jane at work lost 6lbs last week
And your cousin on FB lost 8lbs
THE QUICKEST WAY TO A SCARCITY MINDSET IS COMPARISON TO OTHERS
Stop looking for LBS to quantify your progress
If you haven’t worked out in Years
Starting a workout plan is progress
If you don’t ever break a sweat bc you sit on your ass everyday and now
you sweat 3 4 times per week that is progress
If you were on a first name basis with the guy at the drive thru and you know the checker at the grocery store, that is progress
You can not undue weeks, months, years of poor choices in a couple weeks worth of workouts.
Hell you can’t undue a bad weekend of choices in 2 workouts.
But what you can do is stay
COMMITTED
CONSISTENT
DISCIPLINED TO WHAT YOU WANT
Your worth is not a number
Your value is not a number
Both of those come from
Doing what is required
and
Doing what you said you were going to do
In spite of thoughts, feelings, and emotions that tell you otherwise
Which in this world are becoming harder and harder to find people that do one let alone both.
Then when you call them out on it
It’s not their fault
It’s usually the clocks fault, works fault, spouse’s fault, kid’s fault
No fucking ownership
That is actually the #1 reason why you quit
