We are EXPANDING
07.05.2018 Personal Development 0
This past weekend my wife Stacy and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary.
A night at the Chase
Dinner at a new restaurant
Breakfast at a new restaurant
Then a few minutes spent in a -60 C cryo-chamber
Then I made some BBQ for us and the kids Sunday evening
After reflecting on the weekend
Reflecting on our marriage and what I deemed to be good enough efforts as a husband a few years ago.
You know where we just dismiss these moments as just “another year of marriage”
No exchange of any sort
Just the simple “happy anniversary babe, love you”
“What do you want to do?”
“I don’t know how about dinner and a movie, or just dinner.”
Just the same ole same ole
And that was all on me
It really is cool now to think back on how we have both worked hard to expand our mindset.
Good enough really isn’t good enough
When you don’t settle for same ole same ole you begin to expand in a lot of different aspects of your life.
Your expectations of date nights
Expectations of parenting
Expectations of conversations
Expectations of your life
Setting high expectations isn’t easy
Willingness to act in spite of thoughts feelings and emotions
When things are going well
When you don’t feel like it
But it’s better than the same ole same ole
And the reward is a helluva lot better
